Facebook Announces its very own App Center

Facebook – the massive social network that has reached over 900 million users world wide, including 488 million mobile users – has announced the Facebook App Center. This will be a dedicated section on Facebook reserved for discovering iOS and Android apps via the web (either on your mobile or desktop). This official roll out will be “in the coming weeks” and is noted as being “a new place for people to find social apps.”

 

In order to be listed on the Facebook App Center you’ll have to meet their guidelines of course, the first of which being able to login via Facebook (good for tracking on your timeline). In addition, Facebook is looking for quality apps over quantity and for now the apps for iOS and Android will simply redirect to the iOS App Store or Google Play.

 

This move by Facebook come in line with the many business deals they have been making recently on the ramp up to their IPO. How will this affect your Facebook gaming? RIM continues restructure, hiring COO and CMO

Research In Motion says it has done some key hiring for the roles of chief operating officer and chief marketing officer. These new hires come as the mobile giant are in the middle of a top end restructure with hopes of revitalizing the company.

 

The BlackBerry maker says Kristian Tear will be the new COO and Frank Boulben as CMO.

 

Tear joins the company from Sony Mobile Communications, where he served as executive vice-president.

 

Boulben is the former executive vice-president of strategy, marketing and sales for LightSquared.

 

The company says the two will help its team as it focuses on expanding its global customer base and preparing for the launch of its new operating platform BlackBerry 10.

 

The BlackBerry 10 platform is seen as an integral part of RIM’s attempt to compete against the likes of Apple’s iPhone and devices using Google’s Android operating system. Will this strategy help or is it too little to late?

RIM Launches BlackBerry 10; Positive Reviews from Early Devs

Earlier yesterday, the Canadian company behind the once king of mobile, BlackBerry, Research in Motion (RIM) announced its vision for its BlackBerry 10 platform at the BlackBerry World Conference that is taking place in Orlando today. The company released what it calls the initial developer toolkit for native and HTML5 based software development along with the BlackBerry 10 Developer Alpha phone that was given out to all the developers present at the event. The toolkit includes two things with the first being The BlackBerry 10 Native SDK with Cascades, which would allow developers to create graphically rich and high performing native applications for the platform using C/C++ of QT.

Facebook’s record-breaking IPO reportedly set for May 18th

Social networking giant Facebook is reportedly set to make its initial public offering on May 18th, a day later than early reports had claimed. Facebooks head-hauncho Mark Zuckerberg, chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg and chief financial officer David Ebersman will take part in a roadshow beginning on Monday that will see the company host a number of meetings to pitch its stock to major investors, The Wall Street Journal reports. An offering will then be made on May 18th, the report claims. Facebook’s IPO could raise a much as $10 billion and value the company at as much as $100 billion, making it the largest Internet IPO in history. Google’s 2004 offering currently holds the record at $1.9 billion. Facebook will be listed on the NASDAQ under ticker symbol FB.

Diablo III beta goes open this weekend only

Blizzard announced today that one of its most anticipated titles to date, which was previously in closed beta only, will become a free Open Beta all Weekend for all users with a Battle.net account starting April 20th. All you have to do is download the client here and starting 12:01 PDT you’ll have access to five heroic classes up to level 13. This open beta will act as a stress test for the servers leading up to the May 15 release date for the game.

KickStarter star Pebble E-paper watch passes $5 Million in backing

It seems that 2012 may be the year of smart watch’s. We saw last year the release of a few mainstream versions presumably based around the same model as the iPod Nano+ wrist strap. This time we find a new competitor in the smart watch market. The Pebble, made by the same guys who first created a similar watch specifically for Blackberry’s. The best part about this watch, other then its open SDK and Android/iPhone compatibility is the fact that its has been a huge leap for KickStarter and crowd-funding. Brick Force Review by XenoKilla

Today we bring you another game review by our friend XenoKilla. Today review is of the game Brick Force.

 

This sandbox fun-shooter allows players to create worlds and maps that they’ve always dreamed of, brick by brick. They can share these virtual playgrounds with the community and use them as the backdrop for fast-paced shooter hunts against fellow players or computerized opponents.
